Kinderopvangbedrijf heeft groot nieuws: werkende moeders voelen zich niet meer schuldig!

Gunstige krantenkoppen voor de arbeidsparticipatie van vrouwen. 'Mama's wel gelukkig met carrière,' kopte de Telegraaf en op NU.nl stellen ze: 'Werkende moeder geniet van carrière'.

Maar wie leest wie de opdrachtgever van dit onderzoek was, krabt zich misschien eens achter de oren.
Dat is namelijk Care.com, een bedrijf waar je nanny's en babysitters kunt huren, en dat kinderopvang biedt. Op z'n zachtst gezegd passen de resultaten wel heel goed in hun straatje.

'Een goede moeder zijn, heeft niets te maken met al je tijd aan je kind geven,' zegt ene Dr. Robi Ludwig, een expert van Care.com. Met andere woorden: huur vooral een expert in bij Care.com!

  1. Er wordt op dit moment nog onderzoek gedaan naar de eventuele schadelijke effecten van veel kinderdagopvang (bij kinderen onder de drie jaar) en welk effect dit heeft op de hechting. Artikelen waarin staat dat dit wel/ niet zo is, zijn dus niet gebaseerd op wetenschappelijk onderzoek, want die conclusies zijn nog helemaal niet getrokken. Er is (helaas) nog geen wetenschappelijk bewijs voor. Wel zijn er veel onderzoeken gedaan naar de invloed van kinderopvang in het algemeen (bijv een of twee dagen per week) en daar komen altijd voor- en nadelen uit. Dus ook daar kan niet gesteld worden dat opvang alleen maar goed of slecht is. Altijd jammer wanneer zulke onderzoeken, zo gekleurd, gepubliceerd worden!

    Dr. Ludwig’s academic credentials include a doctorate in psychology (Psy.D) from the Southern California University for Professional Studies; she holds a post-masters certificate in advanced clinical work from Hunter College, a masters degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Cedar Crest College
